Three fibers from Peru
Every Munay piece starts with one of three fibers, each sourced in Peru and made there, most of them in Arequipa.

- Baby Alpaca
The name refers to a grade, not the animal's age: the finest alpaca fleece, under 22.5 microns. It's warm for its weight and because it contains no lanolin it doesn't itch the way wool can.

- Pima Cotton
Grown on Peru's northern coast, Pima has an extra-long fiber, which gives a smoother, stronger yarn that pills less and softens with every wash.

- Vicuña
The vicuña is the wild ancestor of the alpaca, it's the finest animal fiber in the world. It's protected and it can only be shorn every two to three years during the chaccu, a traditional round-up after which the animals are released.
