Protected by Law. Certified for You.

The vicuña is a wild Andean camelid listed under CITES Appendix II. International trade in its fiber is legal only under strict governmental oversight, no permit, no legal export. Munay holds the required documentation, issued by Peru's CITES Management Authority. A copy travels with every vicuña piece we make.

CITES Export Permit

Issued by Peru's CITES Management Authority

This permit certifies that the vicuña fiber in this garment was sourced, processed, and exported in full compliance with Peruvian law and the international Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species. CITES Appendix II listing means trade is permitted only under verified conditions, not as a formality, but as an active conservation mechanism. The vicuña's recovery from near-extinction is a direct result of this framework. We are part of it.

A copy of this permit accompanies every vicuña piece.

This is only part of the story. Learn how the vicuña itself is protected, sheared, and released each year.
